Rodolfo Vera Quizon is a Filipino Comedian actor who is known by his stage name Dolphy. He is born in July 25, 1928 in Tondo, Manila. He came from a not very wealthy family. He sold peanuts and watermelon seeds as a boy. And because of that he was able to watch movies for free. He also has done a lot of odd jobs during his early years until the Japanese occupation of the Philippines where he was able to perform on stage.
His first movie was with a popular Filipino action star Fernando Poe Jr., in Dugo ng Bayan (I remember Bataan). He had countless comedy movies since then. He also perform on radio and television. His most famous TV sit-com series was “Home Along the Riles.” His style of Comedy was different with other actors. His was naturally funny in a way that you’ll get a good laugh out of it without offending or hurting anyone - unlike some comedian actors today who go by the name of Willie Revilliame. He had great contributions to Philippine Television and the movie industry through his art. He is known as the Comedy King. In July 10, 2012, 8:34pm, Dolphy died due to multiple complications in his body. It was a great loss to the Filipinos. He was an actor who symbolized fun, happiness and enjoyment. He somehow helped us escape from the problems of life and taught us to deal with them by having a big smile. He is indeed the Comedy King and no actor today is even close to what he has done for us.
