The First reason is obvious. Smart eats up load. The less excess load you have in your account the less chances you have of losing load.
The second reason is Smart has crappy service. Sometimes it charges you more than you had to be charged. Less excess load = less chances of load being eaten up.
Third reason is BUGS. Sometimes the service lasts longer than what is signed up for. If you have excess load the load will be eaten up if you exceed but if you don't have excess load, the service will continue but there is no load to be eaten up.
